This year, I'm running my 3rd (and maybe final?) Colfax Marathon. Being honest, I was having the hard time finding motivation to sign up for another full, but fundraising for another dope, local organization that does incredible things for people in the Denver community seemed like a good enough reason. So, I'll add another 26.2 to the books!
Take a moment to read through the note from Food for Thought below mine, but also think about the importance of organizations like this in your own life. If your family ever experienced tough financial times when you were growing up, organizations like 'Food For Thought' would have been there for you. And if you're in a position now to make a financial contribution, Food For Thought can feed a child and help a family in a huge way.
The stats don't lie...Hunger in Denver (and everywhere in Colorado, the U.S., the world) is a huge problem. 18% of children in Colorado alone live below the poverty line and 1 in 4 families can't support the basic food needs for themselves.
Here's an easy chance for you to do something huge. Donate whatever you can and know that EVERY single dollar you give will go to Food For Thought and help to feed children over the weekends when they leave school. You can literally feed a kid all weekend with a small donation and even more kids if you give $20, $50, $75 etc. Food for thought is 100% volunteer based, meaning they have no overhead costs. Every dollar you give goes straight into food purchases and into the hands of a child in need.
Let's break the fundraising goals from last year and the year before - new goal: $1200!!!
Enough from me. A note from Food For Thought is below. Join me on May 19th if you want to join the race! Or come have a beer (or 5) afterwards. Training buddies are extremely welcome. I don't want to run all these miles alone!
