Pet overpopulation is one of the single greatest causes of animal suffering in Oakland. And while the challenge is great, we know the solution--make spay and neuter surgery accessible to every Oakland pet parent.
That's why Friends of Oakland Animal Services is setting an ambitious goal for Giving Tuesday 2019--we aim to raise $10,000, enough money to spay and neuter 100 Oakland cats and dogs. This equates to THOUSANDS of unwanted litters prevented.
Our PetFix spay/neuter program launched in December 2017, and the demand for our program's services is immense...we are already on track to fix a record 1000 Oakland cats and dogs in 2019 alone. We are the ONLY 100% free spay/neuter program for Oakland residents. For many of our clients--some of whom deal with housing insecurity, disability, and month-to-month financial struggles--this makes us the only option for providing this critical service for their beloved cats and dogs.
PetFix clients also receive free microchips and vaccines at the time of surgery--all for an average cost of $100 per animal, which is entirely funded by FOAS. But we can't do it without you.
Every gift of $100 will fund spay/neuter surgery for one Oakland pet owner in need. Many of these responsible pet parents arrive before 6:00 am on Sunday mornings to secure a space at our first-come, first-served PetFix events in Oakland, lined up by sunrise to do the right thing for their precious animal--and their community.
Your donation provides a priceless gift--not only to a pet parent in need, but to Oakland Animal Services, which strains under the burden of the more than 5000 animals who arrive at its doors each year. Through spay/neuter, we can stem that tide, and STOP animal suffering in our community.
Stop animal suffering in Oakland--support the city's most accessible spay/neuter program by donating to Friends of Oakland Animal Services' 2019 Giving Tuesday campaign!
