Flutie will benefit the Sharon Police Department in building bridges within the autism community of our town. SPD has several events each year geared toward residents and families living with those on the autism spectrum. During our last Autism Workshop in April, the Walpole Police Department brought their community resource dog, Rebel. The reaction Rebel received from our community gave our Chief reason to support this program. Flutie will be a community dog and be trained to assist in locating missing persons while waiting for other assets to arrive and be deployed.
Flutie will be trained to calm those in distress and give us another tool in dealing with those situations. There are several other agencies in the Commonwealth that have similar programs, Walpole, Brookline, Mansfield, and the Massachusetts State Police. The Flutie Foundation is proud to be involved in this opportunity to support the efforts of the Sharon Police Department.
Thank you for your support!
