Nurses and all healthcare workers have given so much during the COVID-19 crisis – help us return their compassionate care!
At HEARTS: Health & Arts we’ll “Nurture the Nurturers” with a new musical film about Florence Nightingale, a woman who spoke truth to power, followed her heart’s passion, and changed the world!
The film, Nightingale: Regarding the Life & Passion of Miss Florence Nightingale by Pamela Gerke, is now in the works in this year of Nightingale’s Bicentennial. The film will be offered on our YouTube channel and DVD, free of charge: our gift to nurses and other healthcare professionals!
Originally produced as a musical play, our 2020 tour was shut down by COVID-19 after only 4 performances. But in the spirit of Florence Nightingale we didn’t give up!
The pandemic made us completely rethink our production and we are now envisioning it as a film, crafted by an amazing creative team and featuring a stellar ensemble (thus providing much needed employment to arts professionals). Health safety guidelines will no doubt impact rehearsals and filming and we don't know yet when the film will be ready for release, yet we shall endure - like Florence Nightingale! As sung in the musical:
Will we remember and learn from the cause that she fought for? If knowledge gained from the past does not perish, obscure, then she shall endure!
PLEASE JOIN US and add to the support we’ve already received from several nursing organizations (see logos of some in the Photos Gallery on this page and the full list at HeartsHealthArts.org). Your donation will help us:
$5 purchases film make-up for an actor
$50 covers the cost of several copies of the score
$150 pays for several hours of venue rental for rehearsals
$500 contributes to the fee for the director
We are excited about this film because we care deeply about nurses - and we hope to inspire the next generation! We’re also passionate about the arts, knowing that they move us to act on our dreams for a better world.
Help us to dream big with this film!
