It’s been five years since the Flint water crisis began, impacting 10,000 kids under the age of 6 who had been exposed to lead in the city’s water. As a result these children face long term developmental and behavioral issues.
I still remember the day that I first learned of of this crisis. My mother and I watched the media reports with horror and sadness. We donated money for clean drinking water. Yet we wanted to do more knowing that the affected kids and their families will need support for years to come. Last year my mom passed away. But even in her final days, we talked about the Flint kids. So, in honor of my mom, Bertha Holloway, I am racewalking the TCS NYC marathon and raising funds for the Flint Kids Fund.
I appreciate whatever contribution you can give.
