The Granite Games Throwdown was only a week away. In a surge of inspiration, Ashleigh, Chynna and Shivon teamed up to compete, despite being casual gym acquaintances. Flex Appeal was born. It was our first competition together, Ashleigh’s first competition ever. None of us were there to win. We were there for the opportunity to spend a day with other women open to trying something new, challenging themselves, and supporting each other. Then it struck – some call it magic, some call it chemistry. We completely surprised ourselves. We hit PRs in the opening WOD, and walked away with a bronze medal in the scaled division. We also walked away fast friends, excited for the next challenge.
Flex Appeal is taking that challenge head-on by competing in the Rx division of Girls Gone Rx. It may be a stretch of our abilities, but we’re excited to learn how to be better together, and driven by the opportunity to compete for an important cause.
Support us with your encouragement. Come watch us compete, and be patient while we make choices to get extra sleep or eat “clean.” And support all women by contributing to this special competition and amazing cause....
Girls Gone Rx is an all-female competition that started with the idea of getting women together to benefit a great cause: breast cancer awareness. The event is about showcasing women’s strengths and weaknesses, because those are the two most important parts of battling something like cancer. You have to learn to be strong even when you’re feeling weak, but sometimes you also have to be willing to be weak and allow your team to support you. This team building event helps women learn to fight through obstacles and overcome them while learning to be strong, confident and fearless.
Funds raised will go to Bright Pink, a 503(c)-non-profit dedicated to empowering young women to take control of their health for breast cancer prevention and early detection. By fundraising for Bright Pink, you can provide women across the country with free educational resources for reducing their risk.
- $100 empowers 100 women to assess their personal risk for breast and ovarian cancer.
- $150 trains a women's healthcare provider to give more comprehensive preventative care to 3,600 patients annually.
- $300 empowers 300 individuals to assess their risk of breast and ovarian cancer at AssessYourRisk.org
- $500 funds a Brighten Up Educational Workshop for 100 people at corporations, organizations and other group settings.
- $1000 covers the production and distribution of 1,300 educational materials to doctor's offices nationwide.
We have a hefty goal but we're excited to do this together and with your support! Thanks!
