Xavier came to us as a resuce from Ventura County Animal Services in Camarillo on September 17th. He had been hit by a car on September 8th, and he was a candidate for humane euthanasia. X-rays revealed that he had fractures in his hips in four locations, and he was having trouble walking. He also had extensive nerve damage, rendering him incontinent. Due to his injuries, he was not receiving proper circulation in his tail, which began to experience necrosis, and ultimately required amputation. He underwent the tail amputation surgery at ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital in Woodland Hills on October 9, 2020. He was neutered at the time of surgery, and his is now ready for adoption! Xavier will more likely than not be incontinent for his lifetime, and will require an owner who is comfortable with helping him express his bladder. He is otherwise a completely happy, affectionate, playful, loving kitten, and he deserves nothing short of the most amazing home out there! If you are in a position to do so, please consider donating to help us cover the cost of Xavier's care. Our total non-routine medical expenses for Xavier were $2,866.12 (plus additional expenses for routine vaccinations, flea treatment, dewormer, and FIV/FeLV testing). We would not be able to rescue Xavier, or others like him, without your support!
