Imagine crossing the finish line at your first race. Remember how good that felt - the feelings of accomplishment, pride, and happiness (and possibly excitement for a post-race beer)? You put in hours of training, paid your entry fee, and proudly wear a medal around your neck.
Now imagine never being able to even get to the start line, because participation in an endurance event wasn't a reality... until now.
Ainsley's Angels takes people off the sidelines to over the finish line. We pair Angel Riders with Angel Runners, who lend their legs for 5k races to marathons and triathlons so that everyone can be included and celebrated. As an avid runner and Lead Guardian Angel for Ainsley's Angels in the Triad, I have been given the gift of participating with this amazing organization for the last 2.5 years. I have completed races with the most amazing teammates, made new friends, and spread the mission of inclusion, but the most memorable part has always been JOY our riders feel when, for the first time ever, they are included at a race. The joy they feel when they hear runners and spectators cheering for them. When they cross the finish line and hear their name called. Being able to give this gift to Angel Riders and their families is pricess.
So I'm starting something new.
The First Time Rider Fund will help more Triad riders feel the wind in their face any time and anywhere. Our goal is lofty, but we have a BIG DREAM: inclusion for all! Our goal of $3,000 will help us purchase first-time rider medals and a personalized racing chair, which will be used specifically for first-time riders to feel joy and inclusion on the race course.
100% of the money raised will go to our Triad Ambassadorship and when we hit our goal, we're going to celebrate BIG... so why not help us get there? Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting. <3
In addition to ensuring everyone can experience endurance events, Ainsley's Angels of America aims to build awareness about America's special needs community through inclusion in all aspects of life, by promoting awareness, providing education, and participating as active members in local communities.
