On Saturday, May 23rd, just two days after re-opening due to Covid-19, our VFW Post 1066 had a fire. Luckily, we had closed early and no one was in the building and no firefighters were hurt in saving the building. The loss is devastating to our members and to the community. VFW Post 1066 is a chartered member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Our primary mission is to serve veterans, veteran families, the military and our community. Our canteen provides a lot of the income for the good that we do in the community and promotes community involvement through our many outreach events.
We have some insurance but unfortunately, we will need to supplement that money in order to rebuild and continue to give back to our hometown and our veterans.
Any money that is raised for this campaign will be used only to bring the Post and Canteen back into operation. If any money from this campaign exceeds the need, it will be put into our Charities Fund and be given directly back to the community and veterans in need. Thank you very much for your support!
