When we were first told we were going To have child with Down Syndrome, we were so worried. We didnt know if we could handle it. We didnt think we were equipped with the right skills to do this job. Once he was born, we realized that he was just like any other child and we ran with it. We found so much help from Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota. They contacted us, answered all of our questions, sent us materials and even some gifts to welcome our little Finn. They set us us with support groups so we had help along the way if new questions came up. Finn is an awesome little boy. We know he will do great things. So now, we want to give back. We are helping to raise money for Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota.
Down Syndrome of Minnesota is a statewide nonprofit organization with the mission to empower individuals and their families, to create community, and to celebrate the abilities of people with Down syndrome. Our Annual STEP UP FOR DOWN SYNDROME walk is our largest awareness event and fundraiser. Over 5,000 people join us in person at Como Park every September to raise awareness, celebrate abilities, and create community.
The money raised through the personal campaigns of our AWESOME TEAM CAPTAINS & FAMILIES leading up to this event provide the funding Needed to run the many programs at DSAM.
