My name is Angela Pallotta and I am organizing a charity run/fundraiser in memory of my grandfather, Philip Hatch, who passed away last December from Pancreatic Cancer. My grandfather was one of the most influential people in my life. He taught us the importance of Family, Country, and Religion. We lost more than just a grandfather, we lost a friend, a number one fan, a confidante. Someone who could make all of his eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren laugh, even when we didn't want to. Someone who taught us to give, even when we had little to share. Someone who taught us to respect and honor our veterans for their selfless sacrifice. My grandfather was a U.S. Navy Veteran, who served two tours in Vietnam, receiving a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. These are just a few of the many accomplishments he had while serving in the Navy. But, regardless of these astounding accomplishments my grandfather always said his greatest accomplishment was his family. Family was number one, and he was the glue that held us all together. According to American Cancer Society, for all stages of Pancreatic Cancer combined, the one year survival rate is 20% and the five year survival rate is 7%. My grandfather was diagnosed in December of 2016, and passed away in December of 2017. He fought until the very last minute, where he was surrounded by family, who never left his side. As he never left ours, our whole life. Help me to help those affected with Pancreatic Cancer have more than one year after diagnosis to spend with their loved ones. Help me in finding a cure. My main way of raising money will be through my charity event, which will be a 5k walk/run, and will take place October 14th at 10 am. All proceeds will go to American Cancer Society, for Pancreatic Cancer Research. Please donate on this page, or sign up for my event through my registration page. All and any donations are greatly appreciated, and are a step in helping find a cure to this disease.
