I cannot believe that I am into year 10 with this amazing organization and getting to run in Jacksonville for the year of tin!! From what started as a "goal race" in 2010, has blossomed into a passion of mine to help FINISH breast cancer. This year, I am participating in the fundraiser experience and running both the 5k and half marathon in February.
Over the last ten years this race has become a huge part of me. Every dollar gets us closer to a cure and with your help I can make this happen yet again.
As unfortunate as it is, I'm sure most of you know a loved one who has had breast cancer or have been touched by breast cancer yourself. If so, then you know how important this race is for me. I have lost an aunt to breast cancer, as well as seen my grandmother, cousins, family friends, and other relatives battle it. Four years ago, after this very race, I was told my dad would be taken from us as a result of cancer. One of the things he asked me before he passed was to continue to run until we beat this thing.
With your contribution we can find ways to prevent breast cancer through early detection and research. The National Marathon to Fight Breast Cancer is the only marathon in the country dedicated solely to fighting breast cancer. 100% of funds by runners and all donations benefit life-saving breast cancer research, as well as resources for families of individuals that are currently going through treatment. These resources range from daycare for their children, rental assistance, transportation to and from treatment, among others.
