Hello everyone. I am starting this campaign to raise awareness as well as raise funds for a place close to my heart, The Charlotte Rescue Mission. This Mission consists of two ABSOLUTELY FREE drug rehabilitation centers, Dove's Nest for women and Rebound for men. Both me and my brother attended these programs and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is struggling with addiction. As many of you guys probably know, two years ago my brother lost his life to drugs. Addiction can happen to anyone, all it takes is one mistake, one split decision, one stupid choice, which usually occurs in adolescence when our logical and rationale brain has not yet fully developed. (You know that time where we ALL make very reckless decisions? Yep, that's when.) Also, a lot of people become addicted to opioids after recieving them post-surgery or if they hurt themselves. If you have ill-feelings towards addicts, think addiction is a moral failure, etc., I encourage you to please do some research. I also know that many of us have lost family and friends to drugs and alcohol, especially recently it seems. Although my brother lost his life to addiction does not mean that these places do not work. They do! Also, around 90% of people in need of rehab do not receive it. This is caused by several reasons, but access and money have a lot to do with it, which is why The Charlotte Rescue Mission is so important and needs our support. They rely on private donations to keep running. If you feel the desire to donate, that is awesome! If not, that is okay too. Either way, I encourage you to check out their website, (just google Charlotte Rescue Mission) to see what is happening and the good they do. They also accept donations in the form of toiletries, clothes, food, etc. Just check their website for immediate needs. This is a local place that could benefit greatly by our donations. I will be starting it off with a donation of $15. If you have any questions about this, about my story, about my brother, about anything, just ask. Thank you all so much!
