While mortality rates have dropped 39% among women since 1989, this year about 266,120 American women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer, and 40,920 women are expected to die from the disease. American Cancer Society Denim Days bring us together during the month of October to help save lives from breast cancer. Since the event began in 1996, participants have raised more than $97 million to make sure no one has to face the disease alone. Denim Days began with a simple concept – if each of us takes a small step to help eliminate breast cancer, collectively, those steps will take us far in achieving our goal.
Team FHFG has chosen Friday, October 11th. as our designated Denim Day this year. Everyone who donates as little as $5.00 will wear jeans to work that day along with thousands of others across the nation to help raise awareness about the fight against breast cancer. Donations will help the American Cancer Society fund groundbreaking breast cancer research; provide free, comprehensive information and support to those touched by breast cancer; and help people take steps to reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it's most treatable. Together, we are stronger than breast cancer.
