Imagine losing full and normal use of a hand or arm, not walking normally again because of a simple fracture and not being able to get needed physical/occupational therapy because it is too far away. This is the reality for many people in the remote mountain communities we serve in southwestern Honduras.
To deal with this problem, our non-profit opened a home in Gracias, Lempira where people needing therapy can come to stay, accompanied by a family member and for as long as necessary, to receive the care and therapy required for them to recover as fully as possible.
La Casa de Rubén is the only project of its kind in southwestern Honduras and is unique in all of Honduras for two reasons. First, it is dedicated specifically to assisting the disabled and injured of all ages who require physical/occupational therapy. Second, the only criteria for length of stay is the treatment each individual is prescribed. Some will stay for one or two nights while others will stay for weeks or months at a time.
It is a comfortable and peaceful place where community, fellowship and a sense of family exist. It is a place where people can experience God’s love and peace in a very real and personal way. It is a temporary “home away from home” where healing at all levels takes place.
If you want to help remove barriers for Rubén (read his story here), Rosalina, and others like them, please consider making a donation to La Casa de Rubén by clicking on the "donate" button.
Thank you so much and God bless.
