Hi all, Puerto Rico is still dealing with the effects of last year's Hurricane Maria and hurricane season is rapidly approaching again. So much death and destruction and some areas of the island STILL do not have power or potable water.
This month's FFG charity is All Hands and Hearts: Smart Response. All Hands & Hearts is a 4-star rated (via Charity Navigator) organization that works with local partners to carefully assess the damage and identify communities with the greatest need for help, after natural disasters. They provide funds and volunteers.
In Puerto Rico, they are working to help families particularly in the areas of Yabucoa and Barranquitas in the clean up process and along the (still) long road to recovery. As examples: teams working in Barranquitas have assisted with mucking and gutting, debris removal, mould sanitations and cement and CGI roofing jobs. Additionally, Yabucoa teams have helped with the demolition of unsafe structures, debris removal, minor repair jobs and cement roofing.
(Note: All Hands & Hearts is the organization started by Petra Nemcova after the Thailand tsunami in 2005, which merged with All Hands Volunteers)
Let's help. xoxo
