Our Mission: The mission of Grandma’s House of Hope (GHH), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is to Empower the Invisible Populations of Orange County, California. We are committed to improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable, underserved and socio-economically disadvantaged members of our community, by providing housing, food and trauma-informed supportive services. Our Nana's Kidz program specifically distributes food to children living in motels, or unstably housed, often doubled or tripled up with other families in apartments, often without kitchen privileges. All our meals can be prepared in a microwave.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, there is an increased demand to supply meals to children who rely on the school cafeteria as their primary source of food. Now that schools are closed and many parents have lost their jobs or been furloughed, kids and families are struggling to access food. Domestic violence calls are rising due to stress. Demand for our services has increased an alarming 700% since the 'Stay at Home' orders were declared. We have been able to increase our distribution from 450 bags of food monthly to 2,000 bags of food, but there are 3,200 more children on our waiting list.
Most of our families cannot travel to distribution sites further away, so we deliver the food to them at locations closer to them. Without our normal volunteer engagement, this effort has been passed on to staff. Please help us support our local community by donating or sharing this page. GoFundMe will match up to $1K.
No child should go hungry! Let’s provide a smile to children and their families during this difficult time. Thank you for your time and contribution.
