Support the Front Line in the Battle Against Covid-19
Brave nurses at hospitals across the country are tirelessly facing down fear of infection to save the lives of Covid-19 patients. Not only are they working overtime to battle the current crisis, but with the hospitals on lockdown, they have also become patients' primary source of comfort. After giving their all for 12-hour shifts, they don't have the energy to stand for hours in line at grocery stores when they need to recover for the next day.
WE ARE ALSO SEEKING CORPORATE PARTNERS FOR BULK MEALS OR FUNDS TO PURCHASE FROM LOCAL TAKEOUT RESTAURANTS. PLZ EMAIL US AT ADMIN@FEEDHERONURSES.ORG TO CONNECT!
Feeding nurses to help them recharge is a problem our community can band together and solve, and if we start small and focused -- with a goal of feeding the 4 nursing units treating Covid-19 patients at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center over two weeks -- we can iron out the logistics and expand from there. There are at least four units treating affected patients at this hospital, and two shifts per day for those units. A $15 donation covers one meal for one nurse. $30 covers two. $575 covers an entire unit shift for a day. $2,250 covers both shifts over a full day for all 4 units, and $15,750 covers an entire shift for two weeks. Our hope is to quickly meet this goal initial goal, expand into Los Angeles hospitals through the peak of the Covid-19 epidemic and even help other cities in hot spots.
Random Acts has partnered with us in this project so that donations are tax-deductible. Postmates has generously provided free delivery for the effort, and Sweetgreen has helped us get started by donating 175 meals towards the first week! Takeout meals require no additional prep time, and also support restaurants who are being devastated by California's shelter-in-place order.
Please help feed these healthcare professionals so they have the energy to continue caring for the rapidly rising number of admitted patients from the Covid-19 pandemic.
