As most of you know my Dad works at Tampa International Airport. Over the years he has seen with increasing frequency the number of wounded warriors coming home to Tampa. They are greeted by family and friends and their arrival back home brings you to tears when you see these wounded warriors. They are coming back with missing limbs, in wheelchairs, on crutches and the emotional scars they incurred while defending our country, our freedoms and our way of life. The challenges they face are enormous and are lifelong.
My Dad challenged himself to do something for these warriors by signing up for a 5K swim across Tampa Bay on January 11, 2015. The fundraiser is called the Tampa Bay Frogman Swim in support of the Navy Seals. See their website at http://tampabayfrogman.com/. Well………..that was five years ago. This will be his 6th swim as I was his kayak supporter the first 3 years and now this will be my 3rd swim. Father and daughter swimming side by side.
Remember Seal Team Six....they took out Osama Bin Laden.
The website Charity Navigator rates this charity as one of the top 10 charities in the country!!! See their comments at: http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=topten.detail&listid=17#.VFaVo8J0zYV.
Each year this is an incredible challenge, a 5K swim, 65 degree water, with winds and currents. Each participant is required to have a kayaker paddling alongside the swimmer. The event is limited to 175 swimmers for safety concerns. This swim is not about us, it is about all of these Seals, their issues and concerns, their PTSD, their physical limitations and their rehabilitation. That is what this charity is all about. The Seals motto is “Never leave a man behind”.
My Dad and I would like your support for this most worthy cause. If you would like to contribute, you can by using this website. CLICK ON THE PHOTO TO DONATE or the DONATE button.
Thank you for your consideration.
