Future Arts Training and Education
Please read a letter from our Director:
“The arts are an essential element of education, just like reading, writing andarithmetic... music, dance, painting and theatre are all keys that unlock profound human understanding and accomplishment.” — William Bennet, Former US Secretary of Education
As a parent of dancers, I witnessed firsthand how the lessons learned in the studio can help children become resilient, confident, and brave. It is no surprise that there is limited access to the arts for children living in foster care or families with financial insecurity. Many of these children are suffering from significant trauma, abuse or neglect and have no outlet for their physical and emotional expression. Sadly, the effects of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic widened the gap for at risk children and now the need is even greater to help them elude the shackles of poverty and find a way to dance.
FATE Foundation–Kids was created to fill the gap! We are a small woman run non-profit operating alongside the Kanyok Arts Initiative premier training program for young aspiring dance professionals. FATE Foundation provides virtual online dance classes to financially insecure families, at risk, and foster families with children ages 5-18 who do not have the financial resources available for their children. Our virtual platform offers the same quality instructors that train our elite Kanyok dancers and allows us to maintain a low overhead that covers administrative and faculty fees. We look to expand in the future to include a brick and mortar space, however at this time we exist to satisfy an outlet that can be a lifesaver for so many children.
That is where you come in! We need your financial support so that we can continue to fill the gap. In these unprecedented times, we understand that it may not be the right time for you and that is okay. We just hope that you will consider any type of support that you are able to give! Dance can give children the wings they need to fly and the hope that they may have never experienced before. Please contact us if you wish to see any of our financials or have any additional questions.
Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. FATE Foundation-Kids emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support communities, and a desire for all kids to have access to organized physical activities. Established in 2020, we’re an organization driven by providing access to physical activities for all kids. Contact us to learn more and get involved.
FATE-Kids originated from the idea that all kids should have access to physical activities regardless of financial capabilities. Research has shown that kids who participate in organized activities help develop lifelong skills. Dance classes can often be costly, but FATE-Kids is committed to keeping classes free to allow kids to have access to organized activities which encourage physical and social development. This creates long lasting effects which can lead to a better quality of life and further cultivate thriving communities.
When COVID-19 hit in March 2020, kids have been unable to attend school and organized activities in person which has moved everything online. With kids having the resources to meet online, FATE-Kids has used this opportunity to teach kids through zoom, reducing the regular costs of hosting dance classes in person. FATE-Kids can offer these dance classes for free to kids ages 5 and up while still bringing in elite dancers to teach.
FATE-Kids will also look for partnerships and donations to help fund the instructors which will allow more classes to be offered and more kids to be reached by this project. As interest grows, a greater variety of classes can also be offered including workouts and others based on demand. This is with the hope that all kids will have access to physical activities, and can help in growing a better society for all.
