Statistics indicate that there are 5.8 million victimizations of women by their intimate partners in the United States each year. A woman is assaulted in the United States every 9 seconds with domestic violence accounting for 15% of all violent crimes. In Connecticut, there are approximately 20,000 family violence incidents annually resulting in at least one arrest.
Children who witness intimate partner violence are at an increased risk for child abuse and neglect and are more likely than their peers to experience a wide range of difficulties. Family Centered Services is on the cutting edge offering a new trauma-informed and family focused program designed to work with the entire family including victim, offender and children.
Will you help us make a difference in the lives of the families and children that we serve?
About Family Centered Services of CT:
Family Centered Services is a non-profit organization that works with families to ensure they are safe and nurturing places where children can succeed. We envision a world of healthy families, where children grow up to be confident and caring adults and contributing members of their families. We believe all children have the right to live in an safe, nurturing environment, free from violence, abuse, and neglect.
About the Purple Purse Challenge:
It's a friendly fundraising campaign launched by The Allstate Foundation in which organizations that serve survivors of domestic violence compete to raise the most money with the top teams winning grand prize cash donations. The goal of the Purple Purse Challenge is to raise awareness about domestic violence and financial abuse, and to raise financial resources to help end it.
It starts on October 2, 2018 and a total of $795,000 will be given away to organizations in the Challenge. We are competing against almost 300 other nationwide non-profit organizations, so help Family CT be one of the top fundraisers to help us win the $100,000 grand prize!
For every $100 donated by a single donor, that donor will earn one raffle ticket and be entered to win a Purple Purse designed by tennis champion and Purple Purse ambassador, Serena Williams. The more you donate, the more chances you have to win a beautiful limited-edition, handcrafted leather purse ($400 value). Drawing will be held upon conclusion of the Challenge on October 31.
