If you know me well enough to have clicked that link and to have landed on this page then you know how huge of an effect Experience Camps has had on my life... and so many others.
Over the past 3+ years I've seen with my own eyes the joy that ExCamps brings to kids who have suffered through what no kid should ever have to endure... the loss of a parent or loved one.
I lost my dad when I was 24 years old and after volunteering for 3 summers with ExCamps I realize how lucky I am to have had that many years. There are so many children in the world who won't have their mom or dad there to see them score their first goal in a soccer game, get their driver's license or get into college...
Experience Camps allows these children the rare opportunity to just BE A KID. For one week every year they aren't "the kid who's dad died" or "the girl who lost her brother". They get to spend a week feeling normal and learning invaluable grief-management techniques to turn to during the other 51 weeks of the year when they start feeling scared and lost.
Experience Camps relies on the support and donations from incredible human beings. The camp is expanding as fast as possible but there is SO MUCH MORE that can be done.
Last year ExCamps had so many applicants that they had to put kids on waiting lists... think about that for a second... there is so much good that can be done but without the necessary resources, not every kid can be afforded the opportunity to benefit from camp.
This year I am raising the bar and looking to beat $5,000 in donations! $5k will allow 5 new kids to be pulled off that waiting list and given a week they will never forget in addition to tools they can carry with them to help them grow and flourish in this world...
Any donation large or small is incredibly appreciated. If you're willing, please also pass this along to any family, friends or colleagues.
Thank you all so much for everything you've done to support me and to support Experience Camps - I appreciate and love each and every one of you!
