Next month I will be turning 35. Please honor my birthday wish and in lieu of gift please donate to this amazing cause so close to my heart. I’ve spent 28 years without my mother. Over the years I have learned that you never get over “it”...”it” becomes part of your story, “it’s “ woven into the fabric of your whole being, but given the right chance, love and support, from unimaginable loss there grows a 💡! Today is #childgriefawareness day. In honor of children and adults who lost a loved one as a child I #wearexcamps.
My mother passed away from cancer when I was 7 and my brother was 5. We were fortunate to have amazing support system. This past year I was blessed to become involved with @experiencecamps. Experience camp is a one week, free for campers, bereavement camp for children who have lost a primary family member. I was able to go to a camp and experience first hand the amazing magic that happens for a grieving child when they get a week to just be “normal”, all while getting support for the loss they have experienced. I am so proud of every camper I met and honored and grateful for the many staff and counselors that provide such an invaluable gift for these children. All of us who have been to camp know first hand how these beautiful campers fuel our smiles and souls.
We can’t do this without YOU! Please consider donating and help a grieving child experience “the best week of the year“. Click link in bio !

This past summer marked our 10th year of Experience Camps. In 2009, we held our first program with 27 boys at Camp Manitou and we've been off and running ever since. Next summer, we will have over 700 campers at 5 locations around the country. It is through the people who believe in us that we've been able to grow as fast as we have, and yet there's so much more to do.
Our volunteers, campers, families, partners, influencers, and supporters are the loudly ticking heart of this organization. Please join us in sharing the message, sharing your own story, and filling the fuel tank of this engine so we can keep reaching the kids who need us.
