I am so honored to be running the 2020 Boston Marathon as part of the Expect Miracles Foundation Racing Team. I am alive today because of advanced cancer research. My diagnosis with Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer was said to be a tricky one because of my age and where the cancer was located. Using research, my doctors put the best possible plan in place, and as a result I am here today.
I am ecstatic to share that the money I raise on the Expect Miracles Foundation Racing Team will benefit cancer research by supporting the heart of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s revolutionary research and development model, the Robert and Renée Belfer Center for Applied Cancer Science. The Belfer Center addresses key challenges in cancer treatments by leveraging DFCI discoveries and applying them to drug discovery and development.
I know training will not always be easy, but I have so many reasons to push through any pain. I will run with gratitude for my life and my health. But I will also run for all of those who have fought, who are fighting, and who will fight the awful disease that is cancer. I have set my fundraising goal at $15k. With every dollar raised, I truly believe we are closer to a cure.
If you would like for me to run to honor or in remembrance of someone, please feel free to reach out to me. I will be adding names to my singlet and have no doubt these names will help me through the hardest moments of the marathon.
There are no words that could accurately describe the thanks I have for the continued love and support!
