"Since the resistance to this day, many adolescents in Hong Kong are no longer in this world, they were so young, I cannot set my heart at peace...I am utilizing my artistic methods, to bring forth these adolescents who passed, as if their spirits are still present. I wish to give them or the people of Hong Kong, a memorial for the everlasting spirit."
--Sculptor, Ben Li
“抗爭到現在，香港的孩子有很多已經不在人世了... 那些小孩太小了，我沒有辦法讓自己心裏平靜... 我要用自己的藝術手段，再現這些已經逝去的孩子們，做出一種他們靈魂還在的狀態。我希望能夠給香港的孩子們或者香港人民，留下一個靈魂永鑄的紀念碑。”
Since June 2019, sculptor Ben Li and comic artist Daxiong have followed the protest happening in Hong Kong closely. They have created a series of posters and sculptures related to the Hong Kong ‘No Extradition to China’ movement.
Towards the end of 2019, Daxiong created a three-meter width artwork: ‘Free Hong Kong, Revolution Now.’ The artwork depicts important scenes of how the people of Hong Kong fought for freedom with their lives against the brutality of the communist regime from June 2019 until now.
Sculptor Ben Li created this relief sculpture based on the original artwork of Daxiong. This sculpture documents the resistance in Hong Kong. It is also a reminder to humanity to never forget this moment for justice in history. Hopefully, the fearlessness spirit of Hong Kong people can be like the butterfly effect, inspiring the people of mainland China and people all over the world, while defending their freedom.
The clay part of the relief sculpture is now nearly complete. We need your help to crowdfund the cost of casting this sculpture into bronze.
