Mr. B, originally from South Carolina, moved to DC for a better job over 70 years ago bringing his mother and siblings with him. Mr. B bought his Capitol Hill home with his wife in 1952 raising 8 children there. Mr. B, who is elderly and has Alzheimer’s, shares his home with his daughter, grandson, and teenage great-grandson. The extended family is very close, and they continue to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas all together in their family home. The family really likes the friendly neighborhood; Mr. B used to know everyone and was considered the “mayor” of the block.
YACHAD will be working with the family, volunteers and trades people to fix roof, electrical and plumbing problems throughout the house, repair damaged kitchen counters and cabinets, and more. In addition, the house needs wall and ceiling repairs and painting.
Funding is needed to cover supplies, materials and outside professional contractors.
