ABOUT
ETSK is a rural boarding high school set on one Rwanda’s thousand hills, above a beautiful lake, just a one-hour drive from Kigali, the capital of Rwanda – a country that many believe to be the future development model for all of Africa. This private vocational high school educates up to 300 motivated boys and girls, teaching the skills necessary to find a job or progress to university on a government scholarship. Specialties include: CONSTRUCTION, COMPUTER SCIENCE, AND CULINARY ARTS.
OUR STORY
In 1968, an Italian-trained, German priest named Father Hermann Schultz started a village for homeless children in Musha, Rwanda. Completely destroyed during the Rwandan genocide, he rebuilt the village even bigger and, at its peak, housed and fed over 1000 displaced children. Then, with extensive donations from friends in Italy, Germany and Lithuania, Father Hermann started what is now the ETSK Technical High School in 2008, with the big idea of providing job skills.
AN IMPORTANT MISSION
ETSK’s mission is to support Rwanda’s growth and to continue Father Hermann’s vision in one of the poorest areas of Rwanda, by educating young people in the skills necessary for 100% of them to find a job or enroll in university.
New & Important Education Initiatives
The ETSK administration, with the support of the Education Committee, has begun to implement a significant new education initiative, designed to catapult the school into the ranks of the top professional high schools in Rwanda. This includes:
- Improvement of English skills
- Transition to self-education
- Use of educational technology to improve learning
- New English teacher
- Expansion of sports programs

GET INVOLVED
Our first priority is to fund the more qualified students that cannot afford our annual tuition, room and board cost of $600 (vs. $400 for government schools that can only handle 10% of Rwandan students). For only $50 for month, you can make a transformative change in the life of a deserving student. Charitable donations can also provide education materials, new technologies, more teachers, better meals and the upgrading of facilities for a growing student body. Donations are tax-deductible to United States citizens and 98% of your donation will go directly to the school, with only 2% to administration. (Our 501(c)3 is administered by a master non-profit, KBFUS, that approves our legal status and handles all logistics.)
We’ve already made impressive strides in 2017 in the Education Expansion Project and are looking for partners to help us drive our future.
WE PROMISE YOU WILL NEVER REGRET JOINING THE ETSK TEAM. TOGETHER, WE WILL ACCOMPLISH OUR EDUCATION GOALS.
