Hi, I am Ms. Miller, founder of Esteem Living Inc., a maternity home for homeless, expectant teenage mother’s and their children. I began my motherhood journey at the age of sixteen so therefore I understand the time, love, and support a young mother needs to absorb daily to reach their goals in life and raise a healthy family. At the age of 16, I had no clue about being a mother, but with the grace of God, I made it. Through my 15 years of working with law enforcement, I've witnessed mothers being separated from their children, and children being taken from their mothers, and also children being protected from their parents. While employed with the school district, I also witnessed many young mothers begin their journey into motherhood same as I did, during high school. Some were able to finish high school, others were not. By working with pregnant or young women ages 13-21 that are parenting, Esteem Living Inc. will help educate young mothers with the goal of breaking the cycle of teen pregnancy, poverty, and potential homelessness. Esteem Living Inc. also offers support that our young mothers will need to become successful parents and financially self-sufficient. Our mothers are offered childbirth, sex education, and parenting classes. Physical education, nutrition, psychological, and spiritual support are other programs that our mothers will be participating in and much, much more. Esteem Living Inc. will also equip our mothers with the life skills to make intellectual decisions that will contribute to them living effectively in their community with their child(ren). We, as a nonprofit will also partner with local providers to offer free or low-cost services.
