Creating a birthday fundraiser is a special opportunity to bring people together for the purpose of reaching a common goal.
When you fundraise for the American Heart Association, you're joining the fight against our nation's No. 1 and No. 5 killers — heart disease and stroke. These donations help fund lifesaving research, advocate for better health, improve patient care and reach at-risk populations.
In short, you're helping save lives.
Tell people why you are fundraising: Share your story about what makes the American Heart Association important to you.
Ask for specific amounts: Ask everyone to give the dollar amount that corresponds with the date of your birthday (i.e. If you were born on the 11th of the month, ask everyone to donate $11). Or ask friends and family to forgo their morning coffee on your birthday and instead donate the $5 they would have spent.
Give a deadline: Deadlines inspire people to respond faster, so make sure to stress that donations are due by the day of your birthday--or the day after.
Get the word out: Share on social media, start an email campaign, text to friends and family--just make sure everyone knows about your fundraiser!
