Dear Friends and Family,
In June, I will be running the Covered Bridges Half Marathon in VT along with Team Positive Tracks!
Here is the backstory on this wonderful organization:
Our mission is simple - We teach youth how to create change through the power of sport. Youth, ages 12 - 25, are playing soccer to combat climate change; spinning to promote social justice; shooting hoops to end hunger. We call it - Sweating For Good.
We believe that something as simple as a kickball tournament can ignite critical conversation, mobilize peer groups, and foster the basic framework of youth activism and social change.
Positive Tracks knows that a better future depends on our ability to lift youth voices and support their efforts to create solutions to our worlds toughest problems.
Positive Tracks® was sparked by a small group of ten year-olds who mobilized their community around a sick friend – using only sneakers, a finish line, and the earth beneath them.
From that day forward, our goal has been to empower youth of all backgrounds and abilities to use sport as a catalyst for change. Play soccer to fight racism. Shoot hoops for hunger. Through leadership development, hands-on mentorship and experiential learning, we teach young people how to take action by sweating for good. Learn more about our approach and impact.
We’ve grown into a national, public charity with offices hubs in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. To date, we’ve enrolled 65,000 youth partners who‘ve turned 350,000 miles of athletic activity into critical advocacy and activism around core issues, and $10,000,000 for causes shaping our future.
Our vision is ambitious: A national movement, led by young people and rooted in representation from all backgrounds and perspectives. By the end of 2020, we pledge to stand behind 100,000+ young people engaged in ongoing activism through athletics. The Positive Tracks® Partnership Alliance is the collaborative of partners – corporations, foundations and individuals – who believe in our vision and share the desire to bring our model to the next generation.
Positive Tracks® is a national nonprofit organization which relies on gifts from private donors, corporate partners and foundations. Gifts are exempt from Federal Income Tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Gifts to Positive Tracks® are tax deductible. Positive Tracks’® EIN: 45-5086315.
Please help me reach my goal to help Team Positive Tracks!
