Hello friends. I'm raising funds for a nonprofit, Roads to Success, that's working to help narrow and close the equity gap caused by systemic issues such as racism and poverty.
This organization has worked tirelessly to champion underprivileged youth through education, mentorship, and employment. Their mission is to raise youth to a level playing field and they've seen thousands of children each year improve their chances to thrive.
The communities they support are often underfunded and lack the necessary investment and infrastructure, especially in education.
Some crazy facts:
- Underfunded schools in communities of color result in fewer Black students graduating and even fewer continuing with higher education.
- The average white college graduate has 7 times the wealth of the average Black college graduate
- The average white high school dropout still earns more than the average Black college graduate
- Disadvantaged youth who have had a mentor are 55% more likely to enroll in college, 90% more likely to become a mentor, and 130% more likely to hold leadership positions.
Your donations will go towards building equity and brighter futures for our youth. Thanks!
What is the road to success?
For youth, it’s having access to the basic resources required to receive an education. It’s being exposed to role models who can share their experiences and answer those burning questions in their naturally curious minds. It’s having opportunities to join a team, see a college campus, visit a museum, see a Broadway show or even take a walk in Central Park – because they have never been more than a mile outside of their home.
For us, it means helping little kids in the South Bronx learn how to read – literacy is power. It’s having fire fighters, union delegates, salon owners, podcasters, photographers come and volunteer to speak to kids in East Harlem – mentoring is contagious. It’s building relationships with the community so that a kid from Brownsville can be placed in a life-altering internship that inspires them to choose a major and look for scholarships – fascination is a currency. It’s finding the support from people who are passionate about making change from the ground up to ensure a brighter future for us all – community is strength. The road is where we must work together if we are to close the equity gap and give our youth a standing chance at becoming strong future leaders.
Your support is vital to ensuring that our youth have the resources to help them get to where they want to be. Your gift of any size is much more than a donation – it’s encouragement and empowerment to a youth with big dreams and the potential to change the world.
