Elizabeth Perkins (born November 18, 1960) is best known for her work as an actress and her iconic roles in Big (1988), The Flintstones (1994), Weeds (2005-2009) and Sharp objects (2018) to name a few.
While her acting and comic timing are nothing short of amazing, her advocacy and support of women's rights, gun safety, the LGBT+ community and her transparency when it comes to living with Type 1 diabetes made her an inspiration to many, many people.
To celebrate her birthday, express our appreciation and honor her fights, we decided to donate to an organization that we believe is a life changer : Beyond Type 1.
Beyond Type 1 is a nonprofit organization changing what it means to live with diabetes. Through platforms, programs, resources, and grants, Beyond Type 1 is uniting the global diabetes community and providing solutions to improve lives today. Founded in 2015 with a focus on education, advocacy and the path to a cure for Type 1 diabetes, Beyond Type 1 has grown to also include programs for those with Type 2 diabetes. A new model of philanthropy, Beyond Type 1 aims to change what it means to live with chronic illness.
