Currently, the richest 1% in the United States owns more wealth than the bottom 90%. The disparity only grows as those who can afford to do energy work lower their bills, while the poorest choose between paying their utility bills and buying food.
With CHERP's Locally Grown Power initiative, we will be working to bring solar manufacturing to the community level to create additional middle class jobs. We will install the first 6,000 solar PV systems on low-to-median income households, to save them over $6.5 million a year in utility bills. And we will save the environment by mitigating 26,700 metric tons of carbon a year.
Our mission is to prove that it is now possible for every city to create their own energy by combining radically simplified solar technology with a non-profit business model. Will you join us in creating a better community?
