Ainsley's Angels of America is super excited to be spreading awareness and smiles through activism and education!
Emma Fontenot is an 11 year-old Ainsley's Angel athlete rider. Ainsley's Angels has given Emma the opportunity to participate in multiple races around Louisiana. Emma's Angel runners, Gretchen Bertrand and Brandon Sattler, introduced us to this group whose mission is inclusion for all people! If you don't already know Emma, she was born with spina bifida and was told that she would never be able to walk. With Emma's determination and attitude, she surprised everyone and is now able to walk with the use of forearm crutches. Emma believes that there is nothing she is unable to do - it may not be like you or I do it, but she will find a way!! This is where Ainsley's Angels, Gretchen and Brandon come into play - This group allows Gretchen and Brandon to push Emma in a special chariot and compete in 5K's, 10K's, Half-Marathons and even Triathalons! This has brought Emma so much joy (which you can see in her face at EVERY race) and made her feel part of something!
Ainsley's Angels provides several different types of chariots that we are able to use for races, but we are hoping to get Emma her own Axiom chariot that will better meet her specific needs. By having her own chariot, Emma will have more opportunities to get out and roll with Gretchen and Brandon.
