Hi Friends, Family, and Student colleagues, I am one of more than 78,000 children to be adopted from the People's Republic of China. What you may not know is more then 86% of these children are girls. I was immensely lucky to have been adopted by my parents and given so many opportunities. But many Chinese orphans have not been as fortunate. That is why I am committed to supporting the OneSky organization. OneSky is an amazing charity that provides medical care and other support to children in orphanages and villages through out China. Please google their website to learn more. I know you will be impressed by what they have accomplished. I also want to help these children by giving back in some small way. So beginning January 2018, I am personally sponsoring a child for $70 per month. My donation will in part come from my allowance, and also from the money I make tutoring, but that's not all. In addition, I also pledged one hundred percent of the proceeds from my first children's book to OneSky. My book titled "My Totally Intolerable Blocks" teaches tolerance to young children and it is scheduled to be published this summer. If I can do this, think of what we can do together! Please open your heart to my request and help me give back to an organization whose mission it is to help these less fortunate orphans in China. As an adopted Chinese girl, I cannot imagine what my life would have been like if my parents had not adopted me. It makes me realize in a very personal way that every child no matter where they live should feel loved, have food to eat, receive medical care, and have an opportunity for an education. This is my dream for the future. Happy 2018! Emily M. Ford
