We’re Emerson College Ultimate (Skunks), a mixed ultimate frisbee team open to all students at Emerson College. We play competitively against other teams in the Northeast in both the Fall and Spring. Last year, we won the Northeast College Mixed Regional Championship and placed second in The Lobster Pot tournament in Maine. We are an inclusive organization built for anyone who wants to be a part of a team sport.
As a team, we are committed to bettering ourselves and our community. We understand the importance of physical activity on our emotional and physical wellbeing and strive to provide that space for others. This is why we chose to partner with Boston Scores as their mission is, “To provide urban youth with team-based education programs that promote health and well-being, academic engagement, and civic leadership.” Their mission has inspired us to fundraise through a 5K and 10K race in order to provide opportunities for sports to the greater Boston area.
Boston Scores, a nonprofit that provides team-based education programs that promote academic engagement, health and well-being, and social entrepreneurship to ~1,500 inner-city students within the Boston Public School system. During these challenging times, they know students are in desperate need to connect with each other, get outside, and be active and stay engaged however possible. They are working with each of their partner schools to provide program support ranging from modified in-person practices to asynchronous soccer-instruction given an online curriculum to keep our students engaged and connected.
