Please contribute to a relief fund for immigrants in the Portland Metropolitan who are unemployed as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic and who urgently need to meet certain obligations (rent, utility bills, mortgage loans, etc)
“It has been clear for some time that the coronavirus pandemic is killing black and Latino Americans at disproportionately high rates…” We are alarmed and heartbroken to see the recent reports of higher numbers of confirmed COVID-19 cases within the Latinx community. The Willamette Chicano Alliance understands that the pandemic is disproportionately affecting those already bearing the brunt of inequity: women, communities of color, and those impacted by poverty and that the most recent data is particularly stark for the Latinx community in Oregon.
To aid our community we are working to establish a COVID-19 Emergency Fund to give monetary support to the members of the Latinx Community, specifically with a focus on those who are undocumented or in mixed-status families. Within the Latinx community, these individuals face elevated barriers and risks from the pandemic.
While we understand that this does not fully meet needs, we hope these funds can be used to offset some costs.
