As all of us know, COVID-19 is simply upending the world. And those who were just barely surviving before in countries like India are now facing starvation as normal work opportunities dry up and sheltering in place prohibits travel to find or keep work. The World Food Programme says we are are looking at "famines of biblical proportions". The sisters in our 20 Homes of Hope locations are doing a heroic job, taking some of their own food and feeding the poor in their areas and the migrant laborers passing through. During the virus outbreak, some of our children who normally live at a Home of Hope orphanage have been sent to a relative's home, one that obviously cannot sustain their care. The sisters often send food to these homes for the entire family. There are also the children with no one, AIDS orphans, those that have been abandoned and have no other place to go. All these children are still with the sisters. The goal of this fundraiser is to raise $100,000 so that Homes of Hope India (https://www.homeofhopeindia.org/) can send $5,000 to each Home of Hope, asking them to use approximately $1,000 a month for the next five months, providing food for the most needy in their area.
