Children in the Philippines who live in extreme poverty lack access to quality healthcare. They are often denied assistance and are unable to afford necessities to improve their quality of life.
Baby Mira's parents have had a very hard year. Her father works as a farmer. In January this year, his crops were destroyed by a volcano eruption and ashfall. Then in March, COVID hit and he was unable to work.
Despite all these setbacks, they were looking forward to the birth of their first child. Baby Mira was born December 1st. The family were dealt another blow. Mira was born with an occipital encephalocele and needs urgent surgery.
An encephalocele is a congenital neural tube defect characterized by herniation/protrusion of the intracranial contents (meninges, brain, and part of the ventricles) through a defect in the skull.
Her family have used all their savings and have no way to pay for this surgery.
Can you help us raise the funds needed for baby Mira's surgery?
