Band of Runners is a not for profit that aims to share the community of trail running and the physical and psychological benefits running in nature provides with veterans and their surviving family members. I have volunteered at Band of Runners annual trail camp three times and seen directly how much veterans benefit from becoming part of this community. Band of Runners is a small charity and relies on donations from people like you! As for myself - well, I used to regularly knock out 100 mile weeks but since 2016 I've had a few aches and pains that have limited my running. At start of May I signed up for the Great Virtual race Across Tennessee as addeed motivation - the event requires participants to log 634 miles/ 1021 kms from 01 May to 31 August. I put my head down and started walking and running. By 28th of June I had reached that goal and now aim to continue to walk/ run part way back across Tennessee to make 1000 miles/ 1609.34 kms total. This will require an average of 8.13 miles/ 13.08 kms every single day from start of May to end of August. So far about 40% of my miles are running, the rest are walking. As extra motivation to stick to this task (aches and pains permitting), please consider making a donation to Band of Runners. Just US$300 covers the cost of one veteran attending camp - I'd love to raise enough to send five veterans to camp this November.
