On July 4, 2018, Ella, an adult female green iguana, was found abandoned in Torrance, CA, with all kinds of wounds and severe malnutrition. She was brought to RARN and her wounds were examined by a good reptile vet. At the time the lacerations around her eye seemed treatable externally. In the past two years Ella has made a lot of progress putting on weight! She can still be pretty skittish around people, though….
Recently, however, Ella’s eye has worsened. It is bulging and reddened. She is evidently in pain as she will not open it much. Her appetite has decreased. She has been examined by a vet who recommends an eye specialist for reptiles (Yes, they exist and are good!). The initial visit alone is $135. We have no idea what the treatment might cost, or if it might involve surgery, medications, and the like. We could use donations to cover the visit and the future treatment, and of course we will keep this site updated with Ella’s prognosis and ongoing care.
Thank you for taking the time to read this story, and we welcome any help you can give.
