More about the Youth Adivisory Committee
“The Youth Advisory Committee is a group of passionate young 4-H alumni from across the country who work alongside National 4-H Council to promote the 4-H program. We strive to share the stories of 4-H grown leaders and innovators and inspire the next generation of 4-H youth. As alumni, we understand the incredibly influential role 4-H can play in a child’s life, and our goal is to ensure that young alumni and others understand the value of investing in the lives of our future leaders.”
I am proud to serve on the National 4-H Youth Advisory Committee (YAC). This April, we are launching our first digital fundraising campaign – inviting our friends and family to “raise your hands” and help us bring the life-changing 4-H experience to more youth around the nation. When you give, 60% of your contribution will support the 4-H Grow True Leaders campaign to grow 4-Hnationwide; 20% of will directly support the program that made a difference in my life – STATE 4-H; and 20% will support the YAC Cause for 2018: helping the Puerto Rico 4-H program that is still recovering after the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria.
My Story
Being a 9 year 4-H member , my 4-H career was deeply enriched through the authentic mentorship and guidance provided by Tennessee 4-H. The experiences gained through this organization taught me the value of hard work, being committed to a cause and having a passion for serving others. From a small sheep farm in rural Tennessee to becoming an Extension educator, 4-H has prepared me to be a true leader in my community. My passion for service is rooted in the understanding that we all grow and succeed when we are willing to help a friend in need. That is why it is such an honor to serve on the first National 4-H Youth Advisory Committee. The 4-H organization has been serving youth for over 100 years, and I believe we can all play a part in making sure it is around for a hundred more. Join me in investing in the lives of 4-H youth today so they can solve our real world problems tomorrow. With all of the challenges facing our nation and our world, there are also many more opportunities for young people to be a part of the solution.
