We are planning another fun fundraiser to KICK OFF THE WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE CENTENNIAL and the Women's Rights Pioneers Statue that is FINALLY coming to Central Park on August 26, 2020.
Check out the Statue design that has FINALLY been approved!
Recently, I learned that of the 23 historical statues in Central Park, ZERO represent real women. You can find Mother Goose and Alice in Wonderland, but no statues celebrating the achievements and contributions of real historical women. In New York's Central Park! I was so surprised, one, that this was the case, and two, that I had missed this in all of my time in Central Park.
After seeing a video of a Girl Scout troop raising money for this cause, I was inspired by them to try to do my part.
Some lovely people have formed Monumental Women to honor pioneers of the women's rights movement including Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Sojourner Truth. The fund has received approval from the New York Parks Commission for a location (Central park at 77th Street) for the monument that will celebrate these amazing women. In speaking to one of their organizers, the more I learn about this group, their dedication, and mission, the more I want to join this effort. So, here I am asking you to consider making a donation to Monumental Women, a 501 (c)(3). Some people are donating in the amount of $19.20 to commemorate the year of ratification of the 19th Amendment of the Constitution giving women the right to vote in 1920, but any amount is appreciated!
