Within the last year, my grandmother, mom, and aunt have all been diagnosed with breast cancer. My great grandmother also succumbed to the disease a few years ago. I want to raise a significant amount of money somehow because this has become something I’m super passionate about.
So, I’ll be doing the thing I hate second most in the world, running, to hopefully help eliminate the thing I hate most... cancer.
I’m setting out on a journey to train for a race or two over a significant distance. My original plan was a 10k + half marathon in a single weekend. For reference, I have never ran more than about a mile straight in my life and that was to catch the ice cream truck. I’m hoping along the way I’ll garner support from others who believe in my ability to accomplish this goal. Because believe me, if I can run that far, there’s no limit to what we can do — even curing cancer!
I'd love to have your support - and hope you can help donate to the cause. I'll create different incentives for donations and hopefully we can have fun with it while doing this. If you want to donate based on the time I finish, that's great. Or perhaps a pledge per mile? If you just want to follow along and offer moral support, I'll be documenting as much of the journey as possible on Facebook and Instagram. Ultimately, while I'm certain I will be miserable while running, it's absolutely nothing compared to what anyone diagnosed with this disease deals with physically or emotionally.
