Cervantes Foundation created the New Orleans International Guitar Festival in 2015 with the objective of showcasing the guitar which is used in a wide variety of musical genres worldwide. It is recognized as a primary instrument in genres such as classical, blues, bluegrass, country, flamenco, folk, jazz, mariachi, metal, punk, reggae, rock, soul and many forms of pop music. The festival also holds a Young Artist Competition (Classical Guitar Contest) which in 2019, was renamed, The Elias Barreiro Young Artist Competition, in honor of the Cuban Maestro.
This campaign will help raise prize money for this year's competition which will take place from May 18-22 at Tulane University. Your generosity will help the young musicians continue their music development and their love for such an important instrument in music. Thank you for your donation and for supporting the arts! See you at the Fest!
