Eleanor Mitchell Memorial Fund
Our mother, Eleanor, was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) eight years ago. MDS is a bone marrow disease that causes the body to produce poorly formed red blood cells. This condition caused her to suffer from anemia. There is no cure for MDS, only treatment with a medication called Procrit. Our mother's copay costs were very high and she would need it every other week to treat the disease. She was fortunate to secure a copay assistance grant through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) which enabled her to receive treatment. Mom was extremely grateful for this assistance and said many times, "I don't know what I would do without it." With this lifesaving treatment, she was able to attend the weddings of two of her grandchildren and welcome a new great grandchild.
MDS, age, and congestive heart failure all contributed to her recent passing. We cannot express the gratitude that we have for the assistance she received from LLS and we would like to pay it forward.
We would like to thank you in advance for donating to LLS in her memory, so that others may also benefit from the work of this great organization.
