This year I'll be running in the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Race, New York City. This race has been on my bucket list since I first learned about Stephen’s story. It will be an absolute honor to run in the footsteps of this fine young hero!
Just like countless others on the morning of September 11, 2001, I sat and wept at the sight of the terrorist attacks on our country and our fellow man. As I watched the news, seeing people flee for their lives, my very first comment to Casey was "My God, the firemen are running towards and up the Towers! May God watch over and protect all of them!"
Stephen Siller was one of those brave firemen. "The Siller Family started the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation to honor the memory of their brother, Stephen, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001. The Foundation was built upon the mantra, "while we have time, let us DO GOOD," and continues Stephen's legacy by supporting our nation's first responders and service members." Here's Stephen's story - it truly is amazing - https://tunnel2towers.org/stephens-story/
If you can support the foundation that’s terrific and greatly appreciated. I know everyone has their own charities/organizations they support, so please don't feel bad if you can't donate. I just wanted to share this for anyone interested. Thanks and God bless, Elaine
