When my parents asked what kind of party I wanted in honor of becoming a Bar Mitzvah, I said I do not want a party, I want to play Baseball and raise money for charity.
During the past few years, several people close to me have had cancer. They have had to undergo treatments that severely altered their lives, and some have not come out the other side. But it is not just the people I know with cancer, it is the fact that this illness, which is of course many illnesses, hurts the lives of millions around the globe. And not just the people who are sick, but their friends, their families and the communities around them.
I know things are improving, that treatments are less harsh and that more people are surviving to live healthy lives. But more needs to be done. Therefore, I am raising funds for cancer research as my mitzvah day, but I am doing it in what I think is the most fun way possible. On Sunday, June 2nd , we will be playing baseball at the Kaiserman JCC starting at 11 a.m..
Make a donation to find a cure for cancer and come join us – you can play, you can watch, or you can just give your money to a good cause and miss out on spending a beautiful day outside with a great group of people.
All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society .
