10029 (East Harlem) has the highest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Manhattan, and more than 70% of East Harlem School families have lost their jobs or seen a significant reduction in their income due to Covid-19.
We are helping.
Immediately after closing, we launched a food pantry. Every week, we distribute bags of food, household supplies, and books to our families. Since the first week, we have quadrupled the amount of money we spend on food for the pantry, but sometimes, we still run out of supplies.
We have waived tuition for the reaminder of the year and will not require a re-enrollment deposit from returning families in the fall. This equates to approximately $50,000 back into the pockets of our families.
Our faculty and staff is working harder than ever to carry out our beautiful mission of helping students adapt to change and live lives of deep meaning, dynamic virtue, and transcendent joy.
We remain a bright light in dark days. When the time is right, we know we will be back stronger than ever.
