Two years ago, I heard about Esperanza Health Centers during their 2017 Giving Tuesday Campaign. I was blown away by their commitment to providing high-quality health care to individuals regardless of their immigration status or ability to pay.
I joined the Esperanza Health Centers Associate Board in December of 2017 as a way to give back to the Chicago community and to learn more about community-oriented solutions to address health inequities. Between 2017 and today, I've served as a member, Chair of the Community and Advocacy Committee, and today serve as the Vice President of the Associate Board.
This past year, Esperanza celebrated its 15th anniversary AND opened its Brighton Park clinic located on the southwest side of Chicago. In addition to providing basic health care services, the clinic partners with Mujeres Latinas en Accion to provide vital social services to support and empower Latinas and has a teaching condition to educate individuals about how to prepare healthy meals.
To celebrate its 15th anniversary, Esperanza is challenging supporters to raise $15 from 15 individuals. Their goal is to receive 1000 small donations for a total of $15,000 that will support the construction of a playground at their Brighton Park clinic. I challenge you to donate $15 to support my $15 from 15 individuals challenge. Your support improves health equity and strengthens the Chicago community.
